This uniquely shaped one ounce fine silver “nesting doll” coin features a “doll in doll” packaging, brilliant colour and beautiful display presentation. These dolls are an international symbol of Russia and its culture; the decorated wooden dolls "with a secret" are also called matryoshka dolls or babushka dolls. They are instantly recognized in countries thousands of kilometers from Russia. The uniquely shaped and coloured coin is struck in one ounce of fine silver, dated 2021 and has a legal tender value of $5 in The Solomon Islands. Adding scarcity and collectability to this coin, the mintage is limited to just 5,000 coins. GST/HST Exempt
The Design:
A beautiful mix of various frostings and icy colours reveals a freezing winter-look white the engraved serial on the edge ensures the limited mintage. Snow Maiden, the most well-known character in Russian folklore, is the granddaughter and helper of Father Frost.
The Nesting Dolls:
The first Russian Matryoshka appeared in Moscow in the 1890's. In 1900, these spectacular dolls were presented to the public at the World Exhibition in Paris (earning them a bronze medal). After that event, Matryoshka became a well-known and popular doll all over the world. The traditional Matryoshka doll is usually set of seven wooden dolls of decreasing sizes that all fit inside each other, one by one.
