Description
The most iconic image of the RCMP, the Horse and Rider, has been painstakingly brought to life in 3D on this 10 oz. showpiece that is part coin, part collectible art. The year 2020 is a commemorative one for the Mounties: it’s been over 100 years since the Royal North West Mounted police was renamed the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and took on its federal policing responsibilities. Standing tall on the coin’s reverse, the gold-plated Horse and Rider statuette is the stunning embodiment of this milestone and the many others that have made the RCMP what it is today. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
Designed by Canadian artist Julius Csotonyi and sculpted by Royal Canadian Mint engraver Alex Tirabasso, your coin’s reverse is a 3D take on the iconic RCMP Horse and Rider image. Gold plating highlights such carefully sculpted details as the rider’s iconic uniform and the thoroughbred’s musculature as they perform one of the choreographed routines that have made the RCMP Musical Ride world famous. The raised terrain has a sandy texture, complete with scattered hoof prints. The coin’s flat surface serves as the base for this statuette and features the words “CANADA”, “2020”, “100 DOLLARS” and “ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE GENDARMERIE ROYALE DU CANADA” engraved along the outer rim. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
