Description
The beauty of the Canadian Arctic shines on this $10 fine silver coin that features a captivating image of a mother polar bear and her cub. For Canadians, “north” is more than just geography: it’s part of our identity, our history, our heritage – it’s a way of life. And there’s no better emblem for the True North than the polar bear. In a land shaped by wind, sea and ice, it is a symbol of strength, hardiness and, increasingly, climate change. Mintage is limited to 10,000. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design by Canadian wildlife artist Claude Thivierge steps into the remote Canadian Arctic landscape, where a polar bear mother and cub are standing on the edge of sea ice. The reverse includes the curve text “CANADA” above a maple flourish and the year “2020”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
