Description

We pride ourselves on offering top-quality craftsmanship and state-of-the-art coin designs. It’s a combination that has produced some of the most sought-after, talked-about coins. And the proof lies in this elite set. The 2018 State-of-the-Art set is an elite sampling of cutting-edge technologies and innovations that help set our coins apart. But it, too, marks a Mint first: this is the first set to feature one coin from each business line—numismatics, bullion, Canadian and foreign circulation—all proudly struck at our facilities.

The Design:

2 oz. 1936 Dot 10-Cent Coin:

This gold-plated 2 oz. version of the 1936 Dot 10-cent coin is 99.99% pure silver. It has a diameter of 54 millimetres and a nominal metal weight of 62.67 grams. The reverse design by W. H. J. Blakemore features crossed maple boughs topped by St. Edward’s Crown, and a dot that denotes a historic transition period. The obverse features the effigy of King George V by Sir E. B. MacKennal.

1 oz. Silver Maple Leaf (SML) Bullion Coin:

This bullion coin is minted with one troy ounce (31.11 g) of 99.99% pure silver and has a diameter of 38 millimetres. On the reverse, the iconic maple leaf is paired with cutting-edge security features: radial lines, a micro-engraved maple leaf denoting the year of issue, and exclusive Bullion DNATM anti-counterfeiting technology. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.---

$2 Canadian Circulation Coin:

The world’s first glow-in-the-dark circulation coin has a diameter of 28 millimetres and a nominal metal weight of 6.99 grams. The Dance of the Spirits design by Timothy Hsia features a coloured image of paddlers gliding across a lake beneath the glow-in-the-dark aurora borealis. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Fiji 50-Cent Circulation Coin:

This foreign circulation coin, provided under licence from the Reserve Bank of Fiji, was struck at the Royal Canadian Mint’s Winnipeg facility using multi-ply technology. It has a diameter of 26.5 millimetres and a nominal metal weight of 6.5 grams. The reverse features a humphead wrasse (Varivoce), a coral reef fish and a protected species in Fiji. The obverse features a camakau, a traditional outrigger canoe.

Introducing a four coin set that showcases the Royal Canadian Mint’s innovative approach to minting world class coins.
