Description
This extremely low mintage one ounce pure silver $20 coin is enhanced with a vibrant red semi-precious drusy stone shaped as a Canadian maple leaf. “Drusy” is the glittering effect of tiny crystals over top a colorful mineral, and provides an ideal way to bring the maple leaf to life. And as each naturally faceted sparkling drusy is created by mother nature, no two are identical. With a mintage of just 4,000 coins, this is one of the lowest mintage one ounce silver coins ever issued in Canada. As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design by Canadian artist Lisa Thomson-Khan captures a moment in nature, with an image that inspires quiet reflection and a stirring of pride. The sparkling, red-coloured drusy stone is positioned at the center, where its maple leaf-shaped outline immediately catches the eye. Carried by the autumn breeze, this maple leaf has come to rest on the ground, where a scattering of engraved maple leaves lie among the various shaped rocks and stones. The crystal-encrusted stone sparkles in the natural light, while the use of multiple finishes throughout the engraved backdrop ensures no detail will go unnoticed. The reverse includes the engraved word “CANADA” and the year “2017”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
