Description
This 2015 large 1 ounce .9999 fine silver five cent coin is part of a series that honors each of the major transformations of Canada’s five cent denomination. Mintage is limited to 8,500 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design features the Victory theme design used from 1943 to 1945 to promote Canada’s war effort during the Second World War. The obverse design features the effigy of King George VI, which appeared on Canada’s five cent coins from 1937 to 1952. Selective gold plating is used to enhance the design on both sides of the coin.
This 12-sided coin recreates the original Victory design of Canada’s five cent coin. Double the size of the original it allows an intricate look at the flaming torch in the center of the coin. An updated bilingual Morse code, “We Win When We Work Willingly” is engraved along the coins edge. The “V” has a double meaning as representation of Sir Winston Churchill’s famous “V” for Victory and the Roman numeral for the five cent denomination.
