Description

This 2015 $5 one ounce fine silver coin depicts a polar bear and its cub as they roam through their natural arctic habitant. The Polar bear is an iconic animal for Canadians, as its ability to survive and thrive in the harshest climate reflects Canadians’ stalwart pragmatism and spirit of adventure. Mintage is limited to just 7,500 coins. As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt.

The Design:

Designed by Canadian artist Germaine Arnaktauyok, the reverse features a polar bear and its cub in its natural habitat. This coin is struck in .9999 pure silver with a double struck proof finish and a high contrast mirror background, a technique that gives the fur of the polar bear a life-like texture.
