This beautiful $20 colour fine silver “Imposing Alpha Wolf” coin is a continuation of the extremely popular low mintage Majestic Animals series that includes the Iconic Polar Bear, Majestic Moose, Bighorn Sheep, Misty Morning Mule Deer, and Majestic Elk. This latest coin is one of the lowest mintage issues in the series and one of the lowest mintage $20 silver coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in recent years, and will likely be one of the most elusive for future collectors to find. The coin is double struck with the Royal Canadian Mint’s highest quality proof finish, and weighs just over one full ounce of .9999 fine silver. Total mintage of just 6,500 coins. As a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST / GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse image by Canadian artist Maurade Baynton features a lone wolf perched on a rocky slope. Here, the Alpha wolf holds a steely gaze as it surveys its remote territory and the horizon beyond the image field. Behind the wolf, a mountain range looms over the river that winds through the forest valley below, with tall timbers that only add to the majesty of this natural setting. Guardian of its territory, the wolf is a fearless hunter that relies on its remarkable intelligence, and maintains its reputation as an apex predator. It also plays an important role in the biodiversity of the remote areas it inhabits, from Labrador to British Columbia and north.
