Description

This 2015 release from the Royal Canadian Mint is part of the ground-breaking $100 for $100 series, and features the unique and storied Canadian horse. Robust, resilient and good natured, the petit cheval de fer—the “little iron horse,” as it is known in its native Quebec—survived near extinction to emerge as one of Canada’s official national symbols. An amazing offer from the Royal Canadian Mint, this coin is struck in over an ounce of .9999 pure silver, and is offered at face-value, with a mintage of 45,000—an incredible collecting opportunity! It comes beautifully packaged in a custom case featuring a full-colour image of the coin artwork. As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

The reverse design by Canadian artist Claudio D’Angelo features a portrait of a galloping Canadian horse. The stunning image centres on the horse in full gallop across a grassy meadow. Its characteristic wavy mane and tail, fine graceful head and neck, and powerful musculature are rendered in striking detail, enhanced with a matte-proof finish. In the distant background, rolling farmland rises above a vast river. This creature is a uniquely Canadian symbol, as it is the purest North American horse breed. DNA testing proves it to be unrelated to other North American breeds!
