Description
This 2014 pure gold coin features an adorable image of a Chipmunk. The coin weighs .5 grams and has a nominal face value of 25 cents. This coin is GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
The coin was designed by Canadian artist Tony Bianco and captures the expression of an Eastern Chipmunk. The reverse is engraved with the word “CANADA,” the date “2014” and the face value of “25 CENTS.”
The Eastern Chipmunk:
A small species, it reaches about 30 cm in length including its tail, and a weight between 66 and 150 g. It has reddish-brown fur on its upper body and five dark brown stripes contrasting with light brown stripes along its back, ending in a dark tail. It has lighter fur on the lower part of its body. It has a brownish-orange stripe that runs from its whiskers to below its ears, and light stripes over its eyes. It has four toes each on the front legs but five on the hind legs.
