Description
This huge silver coin has a diameter of more than 10 cm (4 inches), and weighs one full kilogram – 32.15 ounces of .9999 pure silver. The nominal face value is $250, making this one of the highest face value silver coin ever produced in Canada. While the first lunar kilo coin issue (Year of the Dragon) coin was limited to 5,888, the 2014 Horse coin has a mintage of just 388 pieces. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
Your coin was designed by Three Degrees Creative Group who captured the essence of the horse. With this oversized precious metal canvas, the Royal Canadian Mint has created a beautiful work of art depicting the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse. The coin is of the highest quality possible, with a double struck frosted cameo finish.
The Year of the Horse:
The year 2014 is ruled by the Horse. The Horse personality embodies life, liberty and happiness. He's amazingly agile, physically and mentally; a master problem-solver. The Year of the Horse also ruled 1906, 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990 and 2002. However, people born in January or February should consult the Chinese lunar calendar. New Year does not automatically fall on January 1st. This celebration is better known as the Spring Festival and coincides with the first day of spring—a date that shifts from year to year depending upon the lunar cycle and solar year.
