The Design:
Your coin was designed by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc and presents a profile portrait of a howling wolf backed by lines representing the wolf's howl. The real prize to be had, however, is the life-like depiction of the howling wolf, poised in a tell-tale stance indicating we are catching this predator mid-howl. The noise carried on the wind in the dark of night can make one's blood run cold; this ancient sound is symbolized by the curving lines behind the wolf, indicating the resulting reverberations. Struck in a proof finish with a mirror-like background and enhanced engraved areas, this adds to the folds and ripples of the wolf's luxurious coat, resulting in a haunting interpretation of this Canadian symbol.
