Description

This 2014 $200 pure gold coin is part of a new series from the Royal Canadian Mint that features striking artwork by First Nations artist Andy Everson. This particular series celebrates the theme of "interconnectedness": the connections between elements in the natural world, between Canadians and their landscape, and between Canadians themselves in our multicultural setting. This coin was struck in a half-ounce of 99.99% pure gold, and features a limited mintage of 1,500. As a pure gold coin, this item is GST/HST-exempt.

The Design:

The design on this coin by the noted K'omoks First Nations artist is an innovative blend of traditional, modern, and post-modern elements in a manner that reflects interconnectedness. This design's narrative references the theme of "Air": the central motif is a thunderbird surrounded by the rays of the sun and the stars of the night sky, beautifully engraved into bright gold. The year "2014" and the face value of "200 DOLLARS" are displayed on the reverse.
