Description
As summer approaches and Canadians across the country begin to shed their heavy winter layers, the sun will slowly heat the lakes and rivers that become Canada’s playground. The carefree and playful memories that are made during camping trips and cottage weekends are kept close to the hearts of many Canadians, giving us hope and getting us through unforgiving and drawn-out winters. This coin is the thirteenth in the Royal Canadian Mint’s hugely popular $20 for $20 series, in which a quarter-ounce 99.99% fine silver coin is offered at face value. Presented in a striking specimen-finish, the coin comes at an unbeatable price and is currently the most affordable fine silver coin offered by the Mint. This piece is the perfect way to begin or add to your collection of Canadiana-related silver.
The Design:
This coin captures the light-hearted feeling of the dog-days of summer, depicting a boy about to enjoy the refreshingly cool water after basking in the heat of the sun. The wooden dock below him and the pine trees in the distance are iconic of many Canadian cottage experiences, enhanced by the perspective we are given: it is as if we are waiting behind this youth for our turn to run and leap into the water.
