In 1988, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced the pure silver Maple Leaf bullion coin, which was immediately embraced by investors and collectors. 25 years later, the Royal Canadian Mint is celebrating this success with a new 5 piece set of pure silver fractional silver maple leaf coins. The set includes a 1 ounce $5 coin, a half ounce $4 coin, a ¼ ounce $3 coin, a 1/10 ounce $2 coin, and a 1/20 ounce silver $1.
One of the most interesting features of this collection is that the original 1988 effigy of Queen Elizabeth is used for the obverse, together with the double date 1988-2013. Since all of the coins are struck in pure silver, this item is GST/HST exempt. Mintage is limited to just 9,999 (the same number as the .9999 fineness of the silver maple leaf coins.
