The maple leaf is a powerful symbol of Canadian identity and values. Internationally recognized, the maple leaf has been Canada’s emblem for almost three hundred years. When the symbol first came into official use in the nineteenth century, Canadians chose a twig of three golden maple leaves to represent Ontario and a twig of three green maple leaves to represent Quebec. As the years unfolded, so did the intricacies and applications of this national symbol, most prominently on the national flag and on Canadian currency.
This 2012 $500 gold coin is 99.99% fine gold with a weight of 5 troy ounces and a diameter of 60 millimetres. Mintage is limited to 200 coins. HST/GST exempt.

Your coin design is inspired by the iconic maple leaf design that has graced Canada’s one-cent circulation coin since 1937. Hand polished! The field (flat background) has a highly hand polished mirror-like finish.
