Description

The year 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF), an organization that has achieved exceptional results in conserving Canadian wilderness and Canadians about environmental issues that concern us all. Robert Bateman, the coin designer, is a world-renowned wildlife artist and an unflagging proponent of wildlife conservation and education. Mr. Bateman is an Honorary Life Member of CWF. Mintage is limited to 750 coins. HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

The reverse image features a detail from Robert Bateman’s painting, The Challenge. The original painting presents a massive bull moose emerging from dense, snow-dusted brush to gaze directly at the viewer, shoulders hunched below its massive head and antlers in a typical challenge pose. This detail features the moose’s head, antlers, and body, as the enormous animal stares aggressively from the shining polished ground of the coin’s reverse side.
