Canada’s beloved Lucky Loonie owes its fame to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Before the tournament began, an icemaker secretly buried a Canadian dollar coin beneath center ice. Both the men’s and women’s national hockey teams earned gold medals, solidifying the loonie as Canada's good luck charm.
