Description
Travel back to 2001 with this eight piece collection of the highest quality coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint for each traditional denomination. The coins are all double struck with exceptional detail and a frosted cameo proof finish. All of the coins other than the cent and loon dollar are struck in sterling silver, with the two dollar coin also including a layer of 24 karat gold highlighting the polar bear. The coins come presented in the original genuine leather case of issue. While many sets dating from this era show signs of handling, this is a premium quality set in near perfect original condition.
The large sterling silver dollar coin at the top of the presentation commemorates the 50th anniversary of the National Ballet of Canada. Celia Franca, a British-born Canadian dancer, choreographer, and artistic director established the National Ballet of Canada which became the only Canadian company to present a wide range of traditional full-evening ballet classics.
