Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2000, this sterling silver commemorative 25-cent coin is a piece from the special Millennium Series. 

In April 1998 the RCM launched a nationwide design competition, inviting Canadians to create twenty-four unique quarters for each month of 1999 and 2000. While the 1999 coins reflected on Canada’s rich history, the 2000 collection turned its gaze toward the future.

November: Freedom

Designed by Kathy Vinish, the coin depicts two children standing atop a maple leaf with their hands raised in an expression of joy and freedom. The design is framed by the bilingual inscriptions "CANADA" and "FREEDOM 2000 LIBERTÉ."
