Description
Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2000, this sterling silver commemorative 25-cent coin is a piece from the special Millennium Series.
In April 1998 the RCM launched a nationwide design competition, inviting Canadians to create twenty-four unique quarters for each month of 1999 and 2000. While the 1999 coins reflected on Canada’s rich history, the 2000 collection turned its gaze toward the future.
April: Health
Designed by Anny Wassef, this coin beautifully honors the medical community and global awareness by featuring the Rod of Asclepius alongside the red ribbon, the universal symbol for the fight against HIV/AIDS. This meaningful design is framed by the bilingual inscriptions "CANADA" and "HEALTH 2000 SANTÉ."
