Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2000, this commemorative 25-cent coin features a design from the special Millennium Series. 

In April 1998 the RCM launched a nationwide design competition, inviting Canadians to create twenty-four unique quarters for each month of 1999 and 2000. While the 1999 coins reflected on Canada’s rich history, the 2000 collection turned its gaze toward the future.

Designed by Laura Paxton, this coin captures a festive moment, depicting the people of Canada gathered beneath a spectacular display of fireworks. The joyful scene is framed by the bilingual inscriptions "CANADA" and "CELEBRATION 2000 CÉLÉBRATION."
