Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1999, this commemorative 25-cent sterling silver coin features a design from the special Millennium Series. 

In April 1998 the RCM launched a nationwide design competition, inviting Canadians to create twenty-four unique quarters for each month of 1999 and 2000. While the 1999 coins reflected on Canada’s rich history, the 2000 collection turned its gaze toward the future.

July: A Nation of People

Maria H. Sarkany’s unique coin design entitled "A Nation of People" uses one unbroken line to form six distinct figures. Each figure symbolizes a different facet of community life: law and order, learning, teaching, the arts, nature, and sports. It is framed by the inscription "CANADA" and the bilingual date "JULY 1999 JUILLET."
