In celebration of Canada’s 125th Anniversary of Confederation twelve distinct 25-cent coins were released monthly, each paying tribute to a different province or territory.

The British Columbia quarter features the region's coastal mountains and coniferous forests. Front and center are two killer whales, showcasing one of the thirty-five whale species found in Canada.
