Part of the Canadian Sports Firsts series, this sterling silver coin commemorates the 1760 introduction of curling to North America

It is widely believed that curling was brought to Canada by Scottish settlers and soldiers during the Seven Years’ War. The sport took root over the winter of 1759/60 when troops reportedly melted down a French cannon in Quebec to forge curling irons.
