Description
Innovation and collectability converge with this 2022 fine silver coin shaped and coloured like a bottle cap featuring the modern Pepsi logo introduced in 2008. The coin features vibrant colours on the top side, with a classic silver proof coin finish on the obverse. The coin is officially licensed by Pepsi and has a legal tender face value of 500 Francs in the Republic of Chad.
Since the famous soda was introduced in 1893, the Pepsi logo has evolved numerous times, maintaining a modern look appealing to the styles and pop culture of each era. The most recent major transformation of the Pepsi logo took place in 2008, presenting a stylized flat globe design with a central wave still using American patriotic colours of red, white and blue introduced in 1950. The logo is also intended to evoke a smile. The idea is that Pepsi is still young and fun, but also friendly, down to earth, engaging, and unpretentious.
About Pepsi:
Created in a drugstore by pharmacist Caleb Bradham in 1893, this carbonated beverage initially dubbed “Brad’s Drink” was renamed “Pepsi Cola” in 1898. Bradham decided to use “Pepsi” as the drink’s name because it was originally advertised as a way to relieve “dyspepsia” (indigestion). Pepsi became increasingly popular during the Great Depression when 12-ounce bottles were introduced still with a 5¢ price tag, as only 6.5 ounce bottles were available beforehand. Today Pepsi is one of the most recognized brands in the world.
