Description
Celebrate the fundamental tenets of Peace, Tolerance and Equality with this new special issue Royal Canadian Mint seven piece coin set. Marking the 75th anniversary of the United Nations (UN), this set includes both a coloured and classic version of Canada’s new one dollar commemorative coin together with numismatic uncirculated examples of each denomination issued for circulation. The commemorative dollars feature a world map within an olive branch wreath paired with a maple leaf to symbolize Canada’s commitment to human rights and global peace.
Out of the chaos and devastation of the Second World War came a new era of global cooperation. Allies in war became allies for peace as representatives from 51 nations, including Canada, signed a treaty to establish a new world body, which came into existence on October 24, 1945. Its purpose: to “save succeeding generations from the scourge of war” by promoting diplomacy, universal rights and international peace.
On the 75th anniversary of the Charter and the establishment of the United Nations (UN), Canada’s 2020 $1 commemorative circulation coin celebrates this nation’s role as a Founding Member of the UN and as a contributor to world peace.
Canada is a nation of global citizens striving for a better world. Our place on the international stage was built on a history of peacekeeping and peacebuilding, and it is increasingly defined by values we hold dear — values embodied by the maple leaf on this $1 circulation coin, where it is a symbol of our vision, our voice, our place as partners in a global community.
Denominations include the 5 cent, 10 cent, 25 cent, colour commemorative dollar, non-colour commemorative dollar, and two dollar coin.
