Description
To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Royal Canadian Mint turned Alex Colville’s centennial celebration of Canada into a six-part centennial celebration of the artist. This one tenth ounce pure gold 5 cent coin features the artist’s design for the 1967 Centennial 5-cent circulation coin. A symbol connected with fertility, new life and promise, the rabbit is featured in 99.99% pure gold. Mintage is limited to just 1,200 coins, including both subscriptions and single coins. GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse re-creates Canada’s 1967 Centennial 5-cent coin design by artist Alex Colville and features a profile view of a rabbit. The reverse also features the engraved face value “5 CENTS”, the word “CANADA” and the date “2020”. The obverse features Canada’s second effigy (1965-1989) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin.
