Description
Since its introduction in 1988, the iconic Royal Canadian Mint Silver Maple Leaf (SML) has been a highly sought-after bullion investment coin. This special edition is a tribute to the SML, with the added distinction of being the first black rhodium-plated AND double-incuse SML ever issued by the Mint. Adding to its collectability, the mintage is extremely limited to just 2,000. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The coin features Walter Ott’s now-iconic sugar maple leaf design, unchanged since the first Silver Maple Leaf (SML) coin was issued in 1988 and is struck incuse on this special edition. Black rhodium plating fills the field and enhances the natural shine of the coin’s silver surface, which is only visible on the engraved relief. The reverse includes the engraved words “CANADA” and “FINE SILVER 3 OZ ARGENT PUR”, as well as the purity standard of “9999”. The black rhodium-plated obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, also struck incuse on this special edition, along with the engraved face value “50 DOLLARS” and the year “2020”.
