Description
After an extended pandemic production delay, one of the most anticipated and innovative 2020 dated coins is finally ready for collectors. Marking the 100th anniversary of the new RCMP formed from the merger of the Dominion Police and the Northwest Mounted Police in 1920, this one and a half ounce fine silver coin is fully three dimensional and shaped like the iconic Mountie hat. Beneath the gold plating on the reverse, a special frosting captures the look of the hat’s felt material while brown gold plating colours the bronze band. Under the wide brim you will find the RCMP motto “MAINTIENS LE DROIT” (Defending the Law) with the commemorative double dates 1920 – 2020. Mintage is limited to 6,500 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The obverse also includes the word “CANADA”, the face value “25 DOLLARS”, a miniature version of an RCMP rider, a “P” mark to indicate the plated nature of the coin, and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. This coin serves as a low mintage collectible of exceptional quality and as an iconic symbol of Canada.
