Description

This 2018 $10 fine silver coin celebrates Canadian hockey and family togetherness. Artist John Mantha has imagined a warm winter scene where a woman holds up a child, wobbly on their skates, as they practice holding a stick on the ice. We can feel the weight of our own family, in memory, and the rising joy of confidence in the child. The evergreens at the periphery cast shadows on the ice, which spotlight the quiet magic of this moment.

The coin is dated 2018 with a $10 denomination and weighs just over one half ounce of pure silver. The mintage is limited to 7,000, and as a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

The coloured design on the reverse by Canadian artist John Mantha features the team logo of the Vancouver Canucks® above an outdoor scene, where an adult is helping a child stand upright on his skates as they practice stickhandling. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
