For 2017, no coins bearing the familiar Polar Bear, Loon, Caribou, Bluenose Schooner and Beaver designs will be issued for circulation, and none of the coins in this collection will be available from any bank or available anywhere at face value. Instead, Canada 150 commemorative designs will be the Òregular issueÓ coins for this year. Based on collector demand, the Royal Canadian Mint has released a small collector issue of just 10,000 rolls of each denomination with the traditional design in an attractive special wrap and a collector case that houses the entire set.

These coins will be some of the lowest mintage coins ever issued in Canada for these denominations. While average annual mintages for most denominations average about 50 million coins, the total coin mintages for the coins in this collection range from just 250,000 to 500,000. By comparison, CanadaÕs lowest mintage circulation quarter issued for circulation since the early 1930s was the 1991 quarter, which now sells for about $500 for one mint roll. While the 1991 quarter had a mintage of 459,000, the mintage of the 2017 Caribou Quarter included in this set is even lower at just 400,000 (10,000 rolls x 40 coins). Each one of the coins in this series is likely to become a key collector date for future generations.

The rolls include 25 x $2 coins, 25 x $1 coins, 40 x 25 cent coins, 50 x 10 cent coins, and 40 x 5 cent coins.
