The Design:
The life-sized bee on this coin is a high end jewellery quality work of art created in silver and embellished with genuine gemstones. The gemstones include round black sapphires on the bee’s head, thorax and abdomen; citrine stones arranged over gold plating to re-create the bee’s characteristic yellow markings; and an array of white topaz that fills the delicate wings and gives them a colourless sparkle to mimic the luminous effect of sunlight.
