Description
This is the second coin in the $30 fine silver glow-in-the-dark series. Demand for first coin “Moonlight Fireflies” far exceeded the limited supply, with the Royal Canadian Mint selling out of this coin within minutes of its release. Using a large format 54 mm two ounce fine silver format with a $30 face value, this remarkable full coloured coin brings to life the northern lights in the moonlight with the use of glow-in-the-dark technology. With an extremely low mintage of just 4,000 pieces, this coin is both a beautiful work of luminescent art and a high quality limited edition collectible. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The entire reverse image by Canadian artist Julius Csotonyi combines rich colours and detailed engraving to recreate the aurora borealis and cast a light on the howling wolves. Nature’s most wonderful light show, the aurora borealis arches overhead as two wolves stand in the frozen river valley with their muzzles to the sky, as they release their howl into the crisp air.
The glow effect is in full colour with variable intensity, creating the spellbinding qualities of the aurora borealis and captures the look and feel of a luminous winter night in the wilds of Canada’s Arctic region. The effect occurs after placing the coin in a light source for 30 to 60 seconds, then bringing it into the dark to experience the sight of luminescent fireflies at a campsite!
