The Design:
The reverse design recreates a key scene from the memorable 1967 Star Trek episode. Selective colour enhances the engraved image of an alternate version of Mr. Spock (portrayed by Leonard Nimoy) performing a Vulcan mind meld on Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy (portrayed by DeForest Kelley). McCoy bears a fearful expression while Spock sports an uncharacteristic goatee and altered uniform—evidence that the away team is in a mirror universe where their fellow crewmembers are behaving very differently.
Star Episode Mirror, Mirror:
Beamed up during an ion storm, which causes a transporter malfunction, the landing party of Kirk, McCoy, Scotty and Uhura, find themselves in a mirror universe where the Federation is replaced by an evil Empire. The ion storm also caused their malicious counterparts to beam to the real starship. Kirk and the others must find a way home before they are discovered and exposed by their parallel crew members, who use deceit, back-stabbing, brutal tactics and seduction to get what they want.
Star Trek:
Star Trek is a science fiction series that followed the Starship Enterprise and its crew. The show is set in the milky way galaxy during the 2260’s. The ship’s purpose is stated in the opening credits: “Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.” From warp drives, translators, tablet computers, phasers to teleporters, Star Trek has given us a look into what space travel could entail in the 23rd century. Many of the visions of the future featured in Star Trek have already become reality.
