Description
This 2016 $20 coin features a sparking and textured crystal-incrusted drusy stone in the shape of a maple leaf together with artwork by Tony Bianco, creating a highly collectible and attractive new issue from the Royal Canadian Mint. The coin weighs just over one ounce of pure silver. Mintage is limited to 4,000. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The design features a central maple leaf shaped drusy stone set within a circle of engraved maple leaves. Designed by Mr. Bianco to highlight the autumnal beauty and textural depth of the drusy stone, the dynamic engraved background features a swirling torrent of painstakingly engraved maple leaves. This central image is encircled by Art Nouveau-inspired scrollwork that lends the coin a distinctly jewellery-like feel. Around the rim of the coin the word “CANADA” and the face value of “20 DOLLARS” are engraved.
Drusy:
Is the glittering effect of tiny crystals that form on the surface of a colorful mineral. Each type of drusy has particular characteristics, such as crystal size, luster and color. The sparkle of drusy stone conjures many delightful images: fresh powder snow, sweet sugar, and stardust.
