Description
This 2015 $25 fine silver coin combines art and technology to capture the magic of a traditional Christmas ornament. The coin weighs about one ounce of pure silver and has a limited mintage of just 6,000 pieces. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
Produced in ultra high relief, the quadruple-struck design features a stylized circular ornament. Set against a festive red background, swirls form a scroll pattern that surrounds the deeply indented petals of a stylized blossom. Tiny dots radiate outward through each of the indented petals of alternating sizes. Eight orange coloured petals lie ensconced within scrolls along the edge of the image field. The high-polished rim of the coin bears the word “CANADA”, the face value of “25 DOLLARS” and the date “2015”.
This coin utilizes an advanced “sheer effect” colourization technique, an effect that makes the vibrant colours glimmer under the light. The raised scroll pattern lends extra depth to the center patter, with an overall three dimensional effect that evokes the spherical dimensions of a classic glass ornament.
