Description

This $20 coin is struck in just over an ounce of pure silver, and features an application of an enhanced finish that recreates the look and feel of ice.  Mintage is limited to 8,000, and as a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, this coin is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

Through the innovative use of technology and colour, this coin presents a snapshot of an icy winter day.  The design features three evening grosbeaks as they move along ice-covered branches.  With the use of selective colouring the birds and berries stand out from the countryside in the background.  The addition of high gloss overlay recreates the glistening ice cover of a winter freeze.
