Bugs. Daffy. Tweety. Sylvester. For many Canadians, the mere mention of these names evoke fond childhood memories of spending Saturday mornings in front of a television, transfixed and spellbound as these characters—and many more—outsmarted each other in situations that could only exist in our imaginations.

This fine silver Canadian $10 coin is part of a new Looney Tunes™ series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint.  The design features Tweety contently sitting on his swing, with his large eyes peering at the viewer.  For most Canadian adults, Looney Tunes™ brings back fond memories of Saturday mornings sitting in front of the television.  This series of coins will bring back those memories in a fun and tangible way so they can always stay with you. The mintage of this coin is 30,000.   As a pure silver coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, there is no HST or GST applicable on this item.

The Design:

The reverse image, provided by Warner Bros., features expert engraving that recreates the famous features of Looney TunesTM character Tweety Bird. With his large eyes coyly peering out at the viewer, Tweety dons a sweetly innocent expression as he sits contentedly on his bird swing. As a special treat for fans and in keeping with the playful nature of Looney TunesTM, each coin in this collection features a hidden surprise design element. Can you find it?

Tweety Bird:

The name "Tweety" is a play on words, as it originally meant "sweetie", along with "tweet".  This animated yellow canary is known for his legendary quotes, such as "I tawt I taw a puddy tat", "I did! I did taw a puddy tat", "Oh, hewwo, Puddy Tat. What you doin' up there?", "Bad ol' puddy tat", "That ol' puddy tat never donna find me in here.", "I wonder what that puddy tat up to now?" and many more.

Tweety lives with Granny in his gilded cage; she is very protective of Tweety and is cautious to keep Sylvester from trying to eat him. Usually the little yellow bird can avoid him with ease.

A fun and easy way to introduce coin collecting to children, and a wonderful collectible for those with a passion for animation and its history.
