This 2015 $10 set is an exciting five-coin series showcasing all-Canadian adventures. Mintage is limited to 20,000 for each coin worldwide. As pure silver coins, this collection is GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
Windsurfing:
Canadian artist Ken Ryan has created an invigorating design of a windsurfer heading out from shore in search of adventure, her feet planted firmly on the board and all muscles flexed as she catches the wind in her sail and begins gliding moving forward.
Whitewater Rafting:
Canadian artist Ken Ryan has created an energizing scene of an inflatable raft plunging into the raging waters at the bottom of a cascade. Four of the crew members paddle furiously to propel the raft while the guide seated at the back of the raft braces himself to steer the boat into the best route. In the foreground, a wave breaks over the edge of the circular design and onto the outer edge of the coin to draw you into the thick of the action.
Mountain Biking:
Canadian artist Ken Ryan has created an invigorating design of a mountain biker descending a winding trail at high speed. His facial expression is one of intense focus and every muscle is braced to maintain control and stay on the trail. The narrow summit he has just traversed rises in the background while rocks in the trail hint at the ever-changing conditions that he must navigate.
Ice Climbing:
Canadian artist Ken Ryan has created a powerful design of the grit and physical strength required to tackle one of the most extreme forms of ice climbing. A climber hangs from an ice-covered mountainside, his back arched and every muscle flexed as he swings his axe over his head and into the ice before kicking out his legs to create the next foothold with his crampons.
Dog Sledding:
Canadian artist Ken Ryan has created an energizing design of a dogsled team racing across a snowy landscape with a few trees and rocky outcrops in the distance. Four dogs pull the sled with zeal, while the musher holds on, her feet braced on the sled’s runners to keep the sled upright and on track.
