Description
This 2014 50-cent cupronickel coin is the eighth coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's popular series of holiday themed lenticular coins. The colorful transition effect brings the magic of holiday traditions to life.
The Design:
The illustrations on the reverse of the coin by artist Steven Hepburn utilize the fantastic lenticular effect by following a tree's journey from the wintery outdoors to the becoming the beloved centrepiece of a cozy home. The transition from the cool blue tones of a nighttime forest into the warm Christmas colours of a brightly-lit home evoke nostalgic feelings of the holidays. The specimen-finish rim hosts the word "CANADA", the face value of "50 CENTS" and the year "2014". It has a mintage of 20,000 coins worldwide, making it an ideal gift for everyone on your list.
