The Design:
This coin is a reinterpretation of Canada’s 1964 commemorative silver dollar, and features a maple leaf with four floral symbols inside. At the top of the maple leaf the French fleur-de-lis, the English rose beneath, on the left the Irish shamrock and on the right the Scottish thistle. The floral symbols represent the major European settler groups in the Canadian provinces at the time of confederation.
