Description

This 2014 50 cent 1/25 ounce pure gold coin celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the 1864 Charlottetown and Quebec Conferences, where the blueprint for Canada to become its own country was worked out. Mintage 7,500. As a pure gold coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

This coin is a reinterpretation of Canada’s 1964 commemorative silver dollar, and features a maple leaf with four floral symbols inside. At the top of the maple leaf the French fleur-de-lis, the English rose beneath, on the left the Irish shamrock and on the right the Scottish thistle. The floral symbols represent the major European settler groups in the Canadian provinces at the time of confederation.
