Description
The Royal Canadian Mint produces only a small number of coins each year in pure platinum, and this one tenth ounce pure platinum coin combines a low mintage and an interesting Native Canadian Legend. The coin is double struck with a near flawless frosted cameo proof finish – the highest collector quality produced. Mintage is limited to just 3,000 for each coin. As a pure platinum coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The design features a portrait of Nanaboozhoo, a favourite character in Native Canadian storytelling and mythology. He is represented in human form with his face painted. Seen in three-quarter profile, Nanaboozhoo is dressed in a traditional Western Ojibwa dress; feathers stand atop his fur headdress as his long, braided hair spills out from under it. The coin is engraved with the word "CANADA," the date "2014" and the face value of "5 DOLLARS."
Nanaboozhoo:
Nanaboozhoo was both a trickster figure and culture hero, who often showed great bravery and courage in his exploits. As a shapeshifting spirit, he teaches right from wrong through his adventures, while offering lessons on how to live in harmony with the natural world.
