Description
This 2014 quarter-ounce, pure gold coin with a face value of $10 is a premium version of the Royal Canadian Mint's 99.99% pure gold bullion coin. It features Vulpus Lagopus-the Arctic Fox. This creature was built to stand the test of extreme Arctic cold, from which they are protected with thick, deep fur and a good supply of body fat. The fur of the Arctic Fox is unique in that it has a chameleon-like adaptation, changing colour from snowy-white in the winter to a patchy brown in the summer. This small Arctic dweller (it is only slightly larger than the average housecat) is seen on this coin in a stance that alludes to the characteristic curiosity of the fox, with his head turned inquisitively. The texture of his thick coat and the intensity of his piercing gaze are brought to life by the expert craftsmanship of the Royal Canadian Mint, while a proof finish with mirror background echoes the starkness of the Arctic environment. With a limited mintage of 2,000, this coin will make a distinguished and desirable addition to any gold or wilderness-themed collection. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
