Description
This 2013 ultra high relief $200 pure gold Grandmother Moon Mask is a striking work of medallic art and an important symbol for many First Nations tribes. The coin is struck in .99999 pure gold with a weight of more than one ounce (33.33 grams). With a spectacular design and a mintage of just 500 pieces, this coin is likely to sell out quickly. As a pure gold coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST Exempt.
The Design:
The coin is a faithful reproduction of a wooden moon mask created in the mid-2000s by renowned Aboriginal artist Richard Cochrane. It recreates the wood grain of the old-growth Red Cedar used to carve the mask, preserves the two dark growth lines and the protective ring of eight New Zealand abalone shells. The reverse also features the word “CANADA,” the date “2013,” and the face value of “200 DOLLARS.”
