This unique 2013 $20 fine silver coin features an original contemporary work of art by Montreal based Canadian artist Carlito Dalceggio. He uses intermingling curves and linear elements to create a dynamic Fountain of Life - a circular narrative composition with no starting point and no end. The design represents the fusion and harmony of humanity and nature, essential elements defining Canada, and stresses the importance for these linkages to continue to grow in the future. It is a message of universal peace, of harmony and union. Mintage is limited to just 7,500 coins worldwide. As a pure silver coin, this item is GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
The design presents a nonlinear myth-scape refracted through Dalceggio’s powerful intuitive artistry. In this work as in others, Dalceggio’s creative subjects include the elements of modern life, a pantheon of global mythologies and his considerable skill for poetic deconstruction. The back features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, and is also engraved with the word "CANADA," the date "2013" and the face value of "20 DOLLARS."
