Description

This beautiful pure silver $10 coloured coin is the first in a new series featuring Canadian ducks, and has been introduced to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Ducks Unlimited Canada.  The coin is double struck with a proof finish, the highest quality produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. The mintage is limited to just 10,000 coins.

The Design:

This coin was designed by Canadian artist Trevor Tennant and features a mallard pair walking together along the snow-dusted shore of a Canadian waterway in late autumn, preparing themselves, perhaps, for the first leg of their migratory journey to warmer climes. The coin is also engraved with the face value of “10 dollars” and “Canada 2013.” The mallard is one of the first to return to nest after winter. The male, or drake, has a bright green head, ochre yellow bill, and brown chest. The female, or hen, bears mottled brown and white plumage.
