Description
The sixth year of The Perth Mint’s Australian Lunar Series III introduces the stunning 1/10oz gold proof coin, featuring the Snake, the next animal in the Chinese zodiac.
In Chinese folklore, the emperor organized a Great Race to determine which animals would be honoured in the lunar calendar. Using its cunning, the Snake secured sixth place. Those born under the sign of the Snake in years like 2025, 2013, and 2001 are believed to be wise, intelligent, independent, and charming, with strong leadership qualities.
These coins, struck in 99.99% pure gold, are the ultimate numismatic tribute to the Snake. Only 2,500 of the 1/10oz coins will be released, making them a prized addition to any collection. They are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
Design: The coins depict a snake curled among bamboo stems, with the Chinese character for 'Snake,' the inscription 'SNAKE 2025,' and The Perth Mint’s 'P' mintmark. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Dan Thorne, along with the weight, fineness, and denomination.
Presentation: Each coin is elegantly presented in a red display case with a magnetic lid, adorned with gold lettering and a geometric design. The case is packaged in an illustrated shipper that tells the story of how the Snake became the sixth animal in the zodiac. Each coin also comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. When combined with future releases, the shippers will create a diorama depicting the ancient myth of The Great Race.
