Description
Capture all three versions of Canada’s 2022 dollar coin in this seven piece numismatic uncirculated Keepsake coin set celebrating the life and achievements of Oscar Peterson. The set includes brilliant uncirculated examples of the Oscar Peterson dollar with a selective colour element, and second Oscar Peterson dollar with classic engraving (no colour), and a regular issue 2022 loon dollar. High quality uncirculated examples of the five cent, ten cent, 25 cent and $2 coins are also included in the colourful display folder.
The Design:
Designed by Canadian artist Valentine De Landro, the tribute dollar coin features a depiction of the musician seated at his piano, playing his powerful civil rights anthem Hymn to Freedom, while musical notes and chord symbols from that piece also appear in the design. On the $1 coin with selective colour, Peterson’s favourite colour (purple) conveys the joy and love of music that were evident every time he played.
The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
