Description
The Bigger Picture zooms in on Canada’s classic circulation coin designs and zooms out to reveal a much bigger story. This 2022 large format five ounce fine silver coin re-imagines Canada’s half dollar coin, adding a new perspective and context to the design. Enlarged to a diameter of 65.25 mm and a weight of 5 ounces of .9999 fine silver, the design showcases multiple elements of Canada’s heraldry. Mintage is limited to just 1,300. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
Since 1937, Canada’s regular half dollar coin has featured our national coat-of-arms. This Bigger Picture design starts with a large silver classic coat-of-arms design half dollar in the center. Around Canada’s coat-of-arms design this coin now adds all thirteen coat-of-arms designs for the provinces and territories which combine to form our country.
The obverse features a maple leaf pattern and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
